Burning Witch

task poem 5/11/05

Born above it all
Because of a severed head
And held above a bar stool.

Like

A kind of beauty queen
Inside the sarcophagus.

Beside the bedbugs and
Poultry mice something
Dwells here…
Subdued and hindered
By a great force

Still gathering gray hairs
And drowning witches
Who ate candy.

Did you know the lovely old ladies
Who were drowned
Ate candy just like you?
How is that to you?
Does it make you feel?

As they drowned the women felt cold
And blue as the heart itself.

Cancer groaning in the heavens of
Pisces drowning in the sea of
Gemini splitting in the corpses of
Step above the greater sign and
Fall into this…
This beauty of nothing.
